NEW CITY HALL MEETING LOCATION: 637 First Street, Santa Rosa @ 7pm
The OVA Board will consider a resolution Monday to let the City of Santa Rosa know it is opposed to locating a cannabis retail shop on Oakmont Drive.
Oakmont’s board of directors has scheduled a special meeting for Monday (May 14) to oppose the retail marijuana store proposed for the medical office building at 6575 Oakmont Drive.
The main agenda item for the meeting at 10 a.m. in the East Rec Center is a resolution authorizing board members to speak in opposition to the cannabis store proposal at a planning department informational meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. the same day at 637 First Street, Santa Rosa.
Herbal Holistics Inc. wants to use a 1,492 square foot section of the building that formerly housed the OVA offices to sell marijuana products along with smoking paraphernalia such as pipes and vaporizers. The facility plans six employees for the store, which would be open between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. A security guard would be on duty during all operating hours.
The resolution to be considered by the board reads: “Whereas Oakmont residents have concerns about potential increases in traffic and crime resulting from the establishment of this business in Oakmont, and
Whereas Oakmont’s Board of Directors are unified in their opposition to Herbal Holistics and all other cannabis businesses being located in Oakmont, be it resolved that: The Board authorizes all Directors who are able to attend the “Pre-Application Neighborhood Meeting” … to attend this meeting and tell those assembled that the Oakmont Board is unified in its opposition to the establishment of Herbal Holistics and all other cannabis businesses being located in Oakmont.”
