Final Tally for Fire Relief Fundraiser Announced

The Oakmont community came out in force to lend a hand to victims of the devastating fires by contributing $113,470.50 to a Fire Relief Fund.  The final amount was announced on December 4th by the Oakmont Community Foundation.  Comprised of 419 separate donations, it will be bundled into a single check and added to the impressive funds raised through the Redwood Credit Union relief effort.  The check will be presented in a ceremony at the Berger Plaza on Wednesday, December 6 at 10:30 in the morning.  Please come by to show your support.

The first donations came in around the end of October and totaled approximately $42,000 by November 10th.  On that Friday more than $30,000 was donated during the large event held at the Berger Center in conjunction with the annual Veteran’s Day event to honor and thank military veterans and firestorm first responders.

Oakmont Community Foundation is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) corporation that exists to fund and support educational purposes and charitable services within the Oakmont community.  Because of their ongoing charitable fund raising activities, they were well-equipped to organize the fire relief effort.  Foundation Directors Sue Millar, Paul Heidenreich, Tony Lachowicz, Bob Chapman, Eunice Valentine, Pat Amedeo, Bob Giddings and Patricia Clothier were instrumental in the fundraising drive and deserve special thanks.
