TOURNAMENT NEWS

Next up is the Falling Leaves Tournament, men versus women, on Saturday, November 3 at 1:00 p.m. (Note time change to Winter hours effective November 1 – April 30). Winning teams in the October 13 Autumn Tournament will be pictured in the next Oakmont

POTLUCK & BUSINESS MEETING

A Potluck lunch and the Annual Business Meeting followed the Autumn Tournament on October 13. The Nominating Committee presented a slate of officers for 2019: Jean Reed (President); Barbara Lowell (Vice President); Bev Schilpp (Secretary and “Sunshine Lady”); Eric Neilsen
(Treasurer); Ellie & Bob Baciocco, Barbara James and Elaine Foote (Social Committee); Linda & Don McPherson (Publicity); Barbara Newton (Historian and Badge Coordinator); Tony D’Agosta (Court Maintenance Overseer). President Sherry Magers presided.

ANNUAL HOLIDAY PARTY: DECEMBER 8

The always popular Bocce Club holiday dinner and party for members and guests will be on Saturday, December 8 at the West Rec. Center starting with appetizers at 5:30 and catered dinner at 6:00 with entertainment following. Reservation forms will be available in the November 1 and November 15 Oakmont News and also in the Bocce Club folder at the OVA office and at the West Rec. Bocce Courts. Deadline for reservations is December 1.

NEW MEMBERS

New players are always welcome during daily play, which begins at 9:30 a.m. until November 1 when the start time moves to 1:00 p.m. Bocce Club membership stands at 116 and growing! Club dues for a calendar year are $15. Members can attend a variety of members-only events
throughout the year and also have unlimited access to Club equipment at the bocce courts. New members who join in the last quarter of 2018 (October, November, December) will be considered as also paid in full for 2019. Membership forms are available at the bocce courts and in the Bocce Club file folder at the OVA office. Completed forms should be returned with a check for $15 payable to “Oakmont Bocce Club” to the Bocce Club file folder in the OVA office. Name badges can be ordered using the form available at both the bocce courts and in the Bocce
Club file folder in the OVA office and will be available after the first week of each month in the name badge basket in the Club Shed.

CLUB PLAY

All three West Rec. Center bocce courts are reserved for club play Monday through Saturday beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the summer and 1:00 p.m. in the Winter and continuing until all games are completed. Players are reminded to arrive about 15 minutes early for the teams and court chip draw. The Club extends its appreciation to the OVA for the attractive addition of new, sturdy handrails on both hillside ramps to the West Rec. bocce courts and to Bob Baciocco for his regular volunteer efforts grooming the courts.
