Adventures in Declarer Play: How to Stroke the Dummy Like a Pro
Come one, come all! What’s the first thing you do when dummy hits the table? Panic? Decide which card to play from dummy? Not any more! We’ll give you three easy steps for planning dummy play on every hand. This will include:
Reading the opening lead: Why that card? Was that suit bid? What does it mean, and what does it imply?
When/whether to pull trump. We always start by pulling the opponents trump, don’t we? Does this hand fall into one of the exceptions? Do I ever leave the opponents holding a trump?
Managing transportion. Does it matter whether I’m in my hand or in the dummy? How to decide where to win the trick and how it could matter. How to decide which opponent to avoid and how to insulate yourself.
When? Four Friday Mornings: Oct 26 thru Nov 16
Time? 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
