11-15-2018 Oakmont Music Lovers


For our December 2018 session we are welcoming back Amy Beal who will reprise her highly interesting and unique perspective on the Beethoven piano sonatas which we first heard about five years ago.For those who did not attend her first presentation (and for those who did), this is another opportunity to listen to her knowledgeable insight on these wonderful works and to listen to excerpts played live.

Amy Beal has been playing the piano her whole life and became a music historian in her 20’s. She holds a PHD in histoical musicology from the University of Michigan and has taught at Bates College, Mills College and Princeton University. She is currently chair of the music department at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Amy also has two important local connections – she graduated from Petaluma High School and he mother, Jane Garlinghouse, is a resident of Oakmont!
