Claudia Vecchio, chief executive officer of Sonoma County Tourism, will speak on the subject of tourism in Sonoma County at the Nov. 15 luncheon of Sons in Retirement #53 at Oakmont’s Berger Center.

Vecchio, with more than 25 years in the destination and consumer marketing arena, created and is executing SCT’s strategic plan: “A robust economy for Sonoma County businesses and residents amplified by results-driven tourism planning and marketing.” She leads a dynamic team of professionals in sales, marketing, communications and administration with the core values: service-centered, collaborative, innovative, accountable and strategic.

Vecchio was director of the Nevada Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs and she headed up the Ohio Division of Tourism. She was named among the Top 25 Extraordinary Minds in Marketing by the Hospitality, Sales & Marketing Association International in 2015. Her campaigns have been recognized by the U.S. Travel Association with an Odyssey Award for the Best State Tourism Office Public Relations Program and by the Public Relations Society of America as a Silver Anvil winner for the agency’s innovative outreach to millennial travelers.

SIR Branch #53 is meeting on the third Thursday of each month in Oakmont’s Berger Center, 6633 Oakmont Drive. A social hour starts at 11 a.m. with luncheon at noon catered by A La Heart Catering.
