Annual Awards and Holiday Party on December 3rd

OLBC’S HOLIDAY GALA IS HAPPENING!
By Mary Blake

INTERESTED IN LEARNING TO BOWL?
The Lawn Bowling Club is always excited to have new bowlers. Bowling is 6 days a week (Monday through Saturday), afternoons October 1st through April 30th. If you’re curious, drop by and ask about the game. Lessons are free for all Oakmont residents. Membership is $20 per year. Club bowls are available for practice and used bowls are available for purchase.

IT WAS A GREAT HALLOWEEN BOWL AND PIZZA DINNER
Jeana said she’d never seen this before, anywhere. 40 people RSVP’d that they’d attend the dinner – and 40 people showed up. Though we had rain before and after, it was a lovely, warm-ish, October evening, perfect for eating out under the stars. As the sun was setting, two huge V’s of geese flew over, a raucous version of the Blue Angels.

It was a wonderful evening with fun costumes and great conversation.

OLBC ANNUAL AWARDS AND HOLIDAY PARTY
Next up is the Holiday Gala. This is more than just a party (though that would be fine, too). The party will include the annual awards ceremony, giving out awards for tournament winners as well as for Volunteer of the Year. And, even more important, the club is continuing with its gifts for needy children. As I write this, Jeana is gathering a list of foster children in need of presents. When you read this, the list, with the name, gender, age, and suggested gifts for each child, will be in the bowls room. Before the party, each of us selects a child or two. You can buy the gifts yourself or ask someone to shop for you. (Don’t worry, complete instructions are also in the bowls room.) Gifts will be wrapped at the holiday party and placed under the tree.

Invitations and RSVP cards are in the Bowls Room.

Details:
Friday, December 3rd at the Berger
Gift wrapping/chatting at 5pm, Dinner and awards at 6pm.
$20 per person
RSVP by November 19th

Today’s thanks go to Jim Krause. He does so much for the club, we sort of forget to thank him. I was reminded today that he is the one that keeps those white benches around the green safe and clean and that’s only one tiny part of all that he does. Thanks Jim!

OLBC CLOTHING
Jeana has shirts and hats for sale. Shirts are men’s and women’s, white with club logo, for $23. Sizes range from SM to XXL. Hats are unisex, white with club logo, for $15. Information is in the bowls room. Contact Jim K or Jeana to place your order.
