There will be no general meeting in the Berger on March 8th., because of the trip to the DeYoung on that day.
Art in the Renovated East Rec. Center
The jurors have chosen 18 entries out of the 261 photos and paintings submitted to the competition to display permanent art in the renovated east rec center. Canvas giclees of the works are being printed in large sizes to accommodate the scale of the new walls in the center. The works were selected because they were interesting, happy, whimsical, beautiful, and generally intriguing to look at. Several people and factors made this happen. Iris Harrell, David Dearden, the Oakmont Art Association, and 28 financial donors provided the details and covered the expenses of printing the artist’s works, all of which were allowed to be printed without recompense to the artist. We sincerely thank all of you who were involved in any way. This is a truly outstanding art display of worthy works by local artists and photographers of Oakmont.
New Pastel Class
James Reynolds will teach a pastel class in March, 9 and 10, in the Central Activities Center. “Exploring Pastel” is a workshop for beginners to advanced students. Each day will begin with a demonstration in design, color and materials. Students will work individually in class and receive personal instruction.
Focus of instruction will be on color choices based on temperature and value. Other topics will include pastel layering, composition, problem solving, tools and materials, how to work from photographs, etc.
Cost of the workshop is $160 for the two days. Contact Dan Fishman to register at email@example.com.
James is also doing a demonstration painting at the Berger Center on Friday March 8th at 6:30 pm.
