Billiard Club (2/15/2019)

Billiard Room Banner

The Oakmont Billiard Club opened the 2019 pool season with ten members competing in the 1st Annual Saratoga Shootout. After 2 1/2 hours of friendly but fierce competition, Tom Sheppard ended the day in dramatic fashion by sinking a three bank, 8-ball laser shot into the corner pocket to narrowly defeat Steve Dieterle in a hotly contested event. Our next tournament will be the Inaugural Luther Lassiter 9-ball Open on Wednesday March 27 @ 1:00. Further information regarding the location will be forthcoming depending on the status of of the East Rec renovation.

The Billiard Club Steering Committee recently had discussions with the OVA and the Long Range Planning Committee (LRPC) to insure that the ongoing expansion and development of our Club is fully incorporated into the Oakmont 2030 plans and vision. Topics included were: a new, larger pool hall to accommodate our growing membership; new and/or refurbished equipment and tables; and enhanced amenities that will elevate the experience for both pool players and the Oakmont community.

The current pool hall is located adjacent to the 10th tee at the East Golf Course facility. Hours are from 9-4 seven days a week. The Club plays Mondays and Fridays from 1-4. With the parking lot currently closed, you can find ample parking at the end of Oak Vista Ct.

With incentives including zero dues, great camaraderie, and the enjoyment of a game that goes back over 500 years, ask yourself why you’re not a member yet. Our helpful and friendly instructors are eager to provide instruction to players of all skill levels that will fit into your busy schedule. Contact Steve Dieterle @ (860) 502-4164  or Jack Linder @ (707) 880-9279 for information about the Club or scheduling a lesson.

And to paraphrase that billiard guru Yogi Berra,  shooting pool “is 90% mental and the other half is physical”.  See you on the rails..
