The Billiards Club is back in the game!

With the pool room only having been reopened 30 days since the pandemic close down, the Oakmont Billiards Club couldn’t wait to get things started with their first tournament in 17 months(last one was in Feb 2020).
The Welcome Back 8 Ball Tournament was held on Wednesday August 4th.

Between the time the tournament was announced and the actual play date, the OVA board issued a mandate, inline with our state governor, that masks must be worn by all residents when entering any Oakmont facility.
However, this did not stop the club players from participating in the first tournament in 2021.

As play resumed it was obvious that most players were still trying to shake off the “rust” from not playing pool in the Oakmont pool room for such a long time. But as it turned out, many of matches were very competitive and there were a lot of close games.

When the dust settled it was Vern Dahl and Michael James left to play in the final match. The final match was very close early on until Michael James ran several balls that put the championship away for good.

Congratulations to Michael James and all of the tournament’s participants in making this a successful event and fun afternoon. Things are starting to feel normal again …. Well almost. Yes, all participants did comply with the OVA board’s mandate on wearing masks inside their facilities.

Welcome Back Everyone!

9/11 Memories and Exercise

Today we remember the day that shocked and shook the world with a painful look back. This is also a time to look ahead at how to mitigate lingering negative responses. Living in constant concern, anxiety and fear robs the good from each day. Deep breathing and reading comics may be ways to cope. Talking to a positive person might be another. And still a third: exercise.
