Board Forum on Future of Oakmont

The first of what could be several town hall meeteings to discuss the future of Oakmont drew nearly 150 residents to the Berger Center on Nov. 6. Resident Jeff Young, who has experience leading corporate planning groups, is shown here moderating the session. Young directed note-taking on easels at the front of the hall. OVA President Steve Spanier said the notes would be shared with the Long Range Planning Committee, which co-sponsored the forum. Comments ranged from the need to expand and upgrade OVA facilities to financing those needs without pricing some residents out of Oakmont. There was also a split over whether extensive projects should be decided by the board or by a binding community vote. One resident cited a need for balance, saying “you can’t have everything you want because we are limited.” (Photo by Julie Kiil)
