The Oakmont Bocce Club was represented by two teams in the Sonoma Wine Country Games. The two day competition was on June 3 and 4, at Julliard Park in Santa Rosa. The Oakmont team, the Go Getter, Barbara Newton (capo), Ellean Huff, Kathy Camp, Tony D’ Agosta and Barbara Lowell (alternate) did not make the finals but had a great time. The team of Jim Tosio (capo), Fritz Spotlesen, Bob Stephen, Steve Spillman, Steve Carrigen and Bob Marino made it to the finals and finished in 2nd place. Congratulations!

The women versus men, Battle of the Sexes was played on Saturday, June 4. As we did not have enough men participating, we payed our usual Tournament format. The winner were Bob Cresta, Barbara Lowell, Tony D’Agosta, Ellie Baciocco and Jean Reed. Knelling were Phil Duda, Kathy Camp and Barbara Newton. Congratulations to the winners. Club members enjoyed the first Evening Bocce event on June 9. Our thanks go out to Margaryta and Tony Sarran for being in charge of the event. It was a huge success. Next up is the Independence Day Tournament on Saturday, July 2 at 9:30, at the Bocce Courts. Tournaments are limited to the first 24 members, so be sure to arrive 15 minutes early.

The Bocce Courts are open for member play Monday through Saturday, 9:30 to around 12, Come on out and try this fun game. The people a re friendly and will make you feel welcome. See you on the courts!!


AARP Driver Safety Course

A newly designed AARP Smart Driver course is returning to the Oakmont Central Activities Center starting in August. Note: The June 23 class was cancelled.
