LOOKING FORWARD TO A NEW YEAR
By Mary Blake

INTERESTED IN LEARNING TO BOWL?
The Lawn Bowling Club is always excited to have new bowlers. Bowling is 6 days a week (Monday through Saturday), starting at 12:30, October 1st through April 30th. Lessons are free for all Oakmont residents. Membership is $20 per year. Club bowls (they’re called “bowls”, not “balls”) are available for practice and used bowls are available for purchase.

2022 DUES WERE DUE FEBRUARY 1ST
To be included in the Green Book, you needed to renew by February 1st. But if you missed that date, you can still renew!
• Leave your check with the dues form in the Lawn Bowling file in the OVA office; or
• Leave your check with the dues form in the bowls room in Tony’s cubby (#40); or
• Pay cash (WITH the dues from) directly to Tony.

PRESIDENT’S DAY FUN GAME
Our first tournament of 2022 is Monday, February 21st at 12:30. We’ll have food and beverages. Sign up on the board on the shed. Wear whites, bring $3, and be there by 12:15 to bowl at 12:30. If you can’t bowl, feel free to drop by and watch.

BOWLING IN A TIME OF COVID
The primary rule is to be safe and to keep those around you as safe as possible. The OLBC Board met on January 14. We decided that our focus would be good social distancing. With that in mind, we’ve made the following changes to bowling protocol:
1. Use alternate rinks whenever possible. Don’t use rinks next to each other.
2. Because we’re outdoors, masks aren’t required, though anyone who feels more comfortable wearing one should feel free to do so.
3. Triples will be allowed IF people maintain distance.
4. Wear a mask indoors.

Of course, things change. This was our best interpretation of the rules at the time. Sonoma County and OVA protocols will always take precedence.

And if you’re a member who isn’t getting the club e-blast, send us an email and we’ll make sure you’re on the list.
I was told I didn’t share enough photos from the Holiday party in my last article so I’m including a couple more.
