With a full conference room, the inaugural gathering of the Solar Power and Electric Vehicle club took place in January. Enthusiasm ran high as those in attendance joined in a robust round-table discussion about residential solar, back-up batteries and electric cars.
There appears to be a high level of interest in installing systems in homes, spurred in some part by recent power-outages, and the upcoming Self-Generation Incentive Program (SPIG) to be offered through the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC). Also discussed was the Medical Baseline program offered by PG&E to those affected by the blackouts who are able to provide evidence of constant use of medical devices requiring electricity.
The February discussion topic will focus on the electric vehicles available in 2020 and will follow a brief presentation comparing price, battery range, and efficiency. Upcoming meetings will include a monthly market review updating any current developments in solar and electric vehicles. Future discussion topics will be decided based on the member’s interests.
The next meeting is Tuesday, February 18, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon at the OVA office, Room B, which is accessible from the street. Everyone is welcome. For information contact Joe Pundyk at joepfrengr@aol.com.
