POOL FACILITIESThe pools are open, including the Central Pool, for residents to exercise. The East Rec has five lanes for lap swimming, and the West Rec has two lanes for lap swimming and one lane for exercising in place. The third lane has stairs at one end of the lane, which does not allow for lap swimming. Reservations to reserve a lane is still required.

According to Barrett Hollingsworth, Senior Environmental Health Specialist County of Sonoma Environmental Health & Safety, pools may open with social distancing and sanitation procedures. However, spas and indoor pools are to remain closed. Staff will look at ways to accommodate OVA residents based on the County lifting restrictions around the pools.

Pools are no longer limited to exercise only. Patrons are required to ensure social distancing of 6 feet or more and must wear a mask when not in the pool.

  • Chairs are allowed; members can bring their own.
  • Reservations for lap swimming is still in the process
  • Pool monitors are Not required to monitor handwashing, use of facial coverings, or physical/social distancing.
  • Aquatic venues, such as aerobics, can be held. We are currently limiting classes to a maximum of 16 people (residents only) and the instructor.
  • Restrooms are available, but lockerrooms are not.
  • Outdoor showers are available, and it is still required to shower before entering the pool.
  • Spas are currently still closed.

My departure

I know its not good timing, it can never really be good timing, but I have chosen to relocate back to the Sacramento area where our home is and where I have lived for more than 30 years. I have met some wonderful people here at Oakmont, of which I will always remember, have worked with the best board I have ever encountered during my 21-year tenure in the industry, and I will genuinely miss every staff member here at Oakmont. We have built an excellent team, and Oakmont is lucky to have them.

I will be here through August 5, and I wish everyone the best in all future endeavors, especially as it relates to being Firewise USA Community, Defensible Space, Home Hardening, & the Public Safety Power Shutoffs.
