JULY 4 SHORT HIKE
There is no hike scheduled because of the Fourth of July holiday.
JULY 11 LONG HIKE -THE JENNER HEADLANDS SEA TO SKY TRAIL TO POLE MOUNTAIN
All of this magnificence can be yours, temporarily at least, on a hike (the preserve contains 15 miles of trails). If you’re in tip-top shape and ready for a challenge, head out on the Sea to Sky trail. You’ll want to get an early start, because it’s a steep 7.5-mile climb from the trailhead to the 2,204-foot peak of Pole Mountain, where you’ll feel like the King/Queen of the World as you turn in a complete circle and see nothing but glorious nature in all directions. Rest awhile and enjoy the lunch you brought along, and then it’s a sharp 7.5-mile descent back to your vehicle, toting a feeling of euphoria that will linger for days. Bring plenty of water, hiking poles, and a hearty lunch. Leave Berger center at 8:30 a.m. SHARP. Hike leader is Chris Sork, 495-3196
JULY 11 INTERMEDIATE HIKE – WEST ANNADEL TO LAKE ILSANJO LOOP
This 5-6 mile hike with 750’ elevation gain is about 50-60% shaded. Starting at the Oakmont Community Garden, we’ll take the North Burma, Live Oak, and Rough Go trails to Lake Ilsanjo. From the lake we’ll either return via the Louis and North Burma trails, or if a longer hike is desired, we’ll take Warren Richardson and Steve’s S trail back down to Channel
Drive. Bring lunch, water, hiking poles. Leave Berger at 9 a.m. Hike leader is Linne McAleer, 415-847-4420.
A REMINDER TO ALL HIKERS: If the hiking trail is more than 30 miles round trip from Oakmont, it is customary to compensate your driver at least $5.00 for gas.
