SEPTEMBER 5 SHORT HIKE – WEST COUNTY BIKE PATH

Enjoy a flat ramble of approximately 3.5 partly shaded miles, reminiscent of a rural European country walk. We start in Forestville and follow a paved path toward Graton, returning the same way. Nature/history stops. Bring lunch, water & sun protection. Nightingale Bakery stop in Forestville. Depart Berger parking lot 9 a.m., return approximately 12:30 p.m. Hike leader is Carolyn Greene cgnpark@icloud.com or text & cell 805-443-7289

SEPTEMBER 5 LONG HIKE – DRAKES HEAD ESTERO

The strikingly calm, baby blue waters of the Estero combine with the flat landscape of the area to create a distinctive landscape. The real payoff, though, is at the end of the hike, where the trail climbs to a bluff

with a superb view of the ocean and estuary. The trail runs almost entirely over the low, treeless, coastal scrub-covered hills that are characteristic of eastern Point Reyes. It’s 9 miles and 1000′ of elevation gain. Bring lunch, water, and clothing layers for coastal chills or wind. Hike leader: Martin Johns 330-815-5167. Leave Berger at 8:30 a.m.
