Oakmont Health Initiative invites the whole of Oakmont to a class that will offer CPR instruction and use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED.) April 20, 10:30, Berger Center. Come. You never know when such knowledge will save a life.
No joke, April 1, 2021, my sister Donna collapsed in the Denver Airport. Cardiac Arrest. Thanks to someone she’ll never know, she’s alive, well, maintains full cognitive ability and her hilarious sense of humor.
Donna’s unknown hero seems to have been a fellow traveler, who knew enough to take action. CPR was applied forcefully enough, long enough, and steadily enough until paramedics arrived and took over. They applied an AED and that made all the difference.
If CPR and/or a defibrillator is used within the first minute, survival rate can be as high as 90%. If used within the first 3 to 5 minutes, likelihood of survival is roughly 74%. Donna was lucky.
Please make time, come to this one time class and learn how you could make someone else lucky. (Covid protocols will be respected at this event).
