Human Genetics – The Hope and The Reality

DNA. It’s what we are. The basic structure of DNA was only discovered in the early 1950’s, and now we commonly use DNA analysis in a wide range of applications. Using case studies, Dr. Drayna will discuss pre-natal DNA testing, genetic genealogy, use of DNA in crime-solving, and the newest step in genetics – CRIPS/Cas to modify the human genome to fix medical problems and perhaps create designer babies. Dr. Drayna has published over 100 scholarly papers which have been collectively cited more than 12,000 times in scientific literature. He is the holder of 19 issued US patents and the recipient of numerous scientific awards.
