The weather gods have not been kind to the Tennis Club. All was set for the Sweetheart Tournament on Valentine’s Day, and then the rains came. Tournament called off.

The Board shook it off and worked on the March Madness Mixed Doubles, setting it up for March 23. Somewhere around the 19th or 20th the Board looked down the road at the weather report and decided not to wait, making an early decision to call the tournament off. It was the right one.

So, here it is April. And the Club will try again, hoping for no April showers. This time the date is April 27. Place will be the West Courts. The format will be Mixed Double again. Prizes will be awarded. Light sandwiches and chips will be provided by the Club. Bring any wet stuff you want to bring to wash down the food. If you wish to play, contact Judy Passaglia at Judypassaglia518@gmail.com. This will be doubles, so try to find a partner.

Meanwhile you don’t have to wait for the tournament to get your tennis swings. A reminder that there is regular action at the East Courts every Tuesday and Thursday at 10 a.m. Your contact here is Peter Hogan at pwhogan@sbcglobal.net. Fridays you can almost always find play around 9 a.m. at the West Courts. Sundays are more formal at the West Courts. Contact Neil Linneball at dlinneball@hotmail.com to get on the Sunday list for team matches.

And if you want to join the Tennis Club, go to the Oakmont Village administrative offices and ask for the club folder, fill out a short registration form, and leave $20 in check or hard cash.
