Inaugural Gathering of the Constitution Club of Oakmont

Over 130 people attended the Inaugural Gathering of the Constitution Club of Oakmont on Thursday, May 12. Original Members, New Residents, and Guests all had an opportunity to meet and greet from 6 to 6:45 over an abundance of food and a wide range of beverages. So many were surprised at the number of attendees and so thankful for a place to gather with people who hold similar values.

The formal program began at 6:45 and included the Pledge of Allegiance, Invocation and a thank you to those who contributed so much.

A huge thanks to the Santa Rosa Republican Women’s Federation President, Sandy Metzger for her expert guidance in pulling together the format of the evening and securing the candidates who addressed us. Also thanked were the SRRWF members and our own members who volunteered time, money, food and beverage.

A very special thanks to Chuck Carlsen not only for the beautiful and bountiful platters of food, the 3 cases of wine, (Landmark Ovation 2019 Chardonnay, Landmark Ovation 2019 Pinot Noir and Saint Francis Banti Vineyard 2015 Zinfandel) but also, to his Honorary daughter, Fox News’ Laura Ingraham, who would address us via Zoom later that evening.

A series of short videos were shown, of which many have asked for the links. In order of presentation, they are:
Whitney Houston’s Star-Spangled Banner Super Bowl 2002:
Morgan Freeman’s most beautiful words on the Noble Ideals of the Declaration of Independence:
Ben Franklin’s speech at the end of the Constitutional Convention:
followed by Ban Franklin’s warning:
An excerpt of MLK I have a Dream:
Concluding with Ray Charles’ America the Beautiful at the October 2001 World Series Game 5:

Three Candidates were in attendance, and each were given an opportunity to introduce themselves and say a few words. Mark Meuser for Senate, Scott Giblin for US Congress District 4, and Andy Springer, Supervisor District 4. (Remember Mark Meuser is listed twice on your June ballots, once for the rest of his current term and once for the primary for the November election).

Shortly after 8 PM our time, 11 PM Eastern, at the end of her day, directly after her broadcast, Laura Ingraham joined us via Zoom. She not only spoke on current issues but also took questions from the audience. It was a breath of fresh air and an inspiration to us all.
