I was appointed to a vacated OVA Board seat in 2021 and elected in 2022 with 75% of the ballots cast. I seek re-election for one more term. I serve as the liaison to our Environmental Stewardship and Emergency Preparedness committees. I also serve our Architecture and Firewise committees, Movies, Technology Learning Center, and Sunday Symposium. I’m a California native, naturalist and geologist. My career included geophysics, environmental geology, major projects risk management, and communications.
I looked at the big issues I addressed in my candidate statement two years ago. They’re all still relevant.
Updates:
- We have a highly effective GM leading a great staff.
- Firewise is still critical. As a community, we’ve done great work which makes us safer (and insurable.)
- 2030 has been a useful conversation. I support creating a long-term plan for our central area. I do not expect to cast a vote on any major building projects during my 2-year term. Specifically, properly maintained, the existing Berger Center should grace our community for many good years to come.
- I continue to believe we can do emergency response better. The recently completed traffic study will inform emergency planning and dialogue with the city.
- My last statement mentioned Energy Resiliency. This broadened into a quick win from 2030; I authored the charter for our Environmental Stewardship committee. It is already working on projects which will benefit Oakmont.
I approach issues by gathering knowledge, stakeholder, and expert opinions, assessing risks and opportunities, and building consensus around the best options. I won’t waste money, yours, or mine.
I am on the Executive Board of the Redwood Empire Council of the Boy Scouts of America, which teaches servant leadership.
Thank you for your vote!
