My wife, Susan Bercu, and I moved to Oakmont in 2015 and are enjoying our many friends and acquaintances in the vibrant Oakmont community as well as our longtime Sonoma County friends. Susan is a lifelong artist exhibiting art pieces locally, regionally and internationally. I am a musician since 1963 and musical instrument builder since 2017.
I am a USAF veteran, serving as a hospital medic and operating room technician from 1966 to 1970. I was a Certified Respiratory Therapist in Northern CA from 1970 to 1981.
I have an A.S. Degree from Yuba College, a BA
in Theater with a minor in Journalism and an MFA in Theater from Humboldt State University.
From 1982 to 1991, I was founder/partner/designer at Scene 2, a San Francisco based scenic design and production studio for advertising, television and film projects.
From 1991 to 2015, I owned and operated commercial advertising and fine art photography studios in San Francisco and San Rafael. I directed and produced many video projects for San Francisco and North Bay businesses as well as the documentary film, “100 Years at the Ranch” in 2014.
I have worked in high stress intensive care units, managed a scenery studio providing sets and props to the critical and demanding advertising and television industry, created an award-winning documentary and lead teams of creative professionals. These abilities will assist me to work productively with fellow OVA Board members and clearly communicate issues and solutions to the Oakmont community.
I am Chair of the Energy Resiliency Committee, a voting member of the Building Construction Committee, a Firewise Resource Committee Assessor, and an Architectural Committee Firewise Inspector. If elected, I will be an attentive, thoughtful, creative problem solver, collaborator and communicator on what Oakmont needs and wants for the betterment of the community.
