Monday May 13 10 a.m. – Noon

Lawn bowling is not only fun and easy to learn, it’s great exercise and a wonderful way to meet new friends. Join us on the Green next to the Central Activities Center. We will have bowls for you to use, refreshments and our club members will be there to show you the basics. So, wear you comfortable, smooth-sole shoes, and meet us on the Green. You might even win a bottle of wine!

The OLBC logo is a stylish quail design, but no club tournament would be complete without an appearance by Bowlie the chicken. The little mascot has been around for more than two decades and has gone through at least 40 sets of batteries.

Bowlie strutted his stuff at the April Fools Day tournament, which, incidentally, was won by, Irene I’Anson, James Chang and Mary Blake. Second place went to Jim Krause, Liliane Rains and Pam Dempsey. Finishing third were Marilyn Garland, Charlotte Simpson and Sherry Kohut.

UPCOMING TOURNAMENTS Jerry Garland is mixing up the format of the tournaments this year, and will even include yardstick scoring. Whites are required. Sign up soon, bring $3 and please arrive 15 minutes early so the game can begin on time. Men’s Pairs Thursday, April 25 @ 12:30 Women’s Pairs, Wednesday, May 8 @ 9:30

——————————————————————————————— SONOMA WINE COUNTRY GAMES Even if you aren’t planning to compete in the Wine Country Games on June 7 and 8 we need volunteers to help as greeters, markers or managing the food table and sign-in table. Also, plan to attend the games, starting at 9:30 a.m. to support our OLBC teams. Jerry Garland, tournament chair, reports OLBC now has 6 teams registered—the maximum allowed the home team. But if an OLBC member is unable to play or if one of the other teams has to drop out, he’ll be looking for substitutes. Send Jerry an email ( or phone him (707-538-3119) if you’d like to help or be a sub. Here are the team assignments:

Jerry, Marlyn and Topher

Jim K., Jim M. and Frank G.

Francis, Bonnie and Mark

Mike, Denise and Steve

Linda R., Kathleen and Pam

Tony, Ann and Ted
