Ruth Layne

Helle Sparre, Tennis and Pickleball Pro, Featured Speaker March 16

Oakmont Tennis and Pickleball share many things: members, space, enthusiasm and now, professional help!

Thanks to an Oakmont Community Foundation grant obtained by Terri Somers, the OTC is pleased to present Helle Sparre, professional tennis and pickleball player, coach, and author at our March 16 membership meeting. Sparre, originally from Denmark, played doubles tennis professionally during the 1970s and, with Helena Anliot, won the 1978 U.S. Clay Court Championships. She is the author of Dynamic Doubles and maintains a website of video tips for better doubles play.

In a novel format, OTC and OPC will meet jointly for part of the afternoon. The members only OTC meeting starts at 2:00 pm in Berger with light refreshments and club business. At 3:00 p.m. the meeting opens to tennis and pickleball players, when Ms. Sparre will begin with a presentation on Dynamic Tennis Doubles. At 4:00 p.m. we will break for a wine and cheese social for members of both clubs. Ms. Sparre will then continue speaking about winning pickleball doubles strategies.
