The Sonoma County Council on Aging and the Sonoma County Bocce Club have announced that the Bocce competition for the 2019 Sonoma Wine Country Games will occur on Friday and Saturday, May 31-June 1 at the Julliard Park Bocce courts, South A Street, Santa Rosa.
Bocce will be played in four-person teams and each team can have up to two alternates. Each teammate must pay the $45 registration fee and $5 Bocce sport event fee. Alternates do not need to pay registration fees but do need to register.
Registration opens on March 1. Details on the Bocce competition as well as all of the sports that comprise the annual Games for senior athletes scheduled for May 31-June 15 are available on the Wine Country Games website at http://winecountrygames.com. Registration can be done on-line at the website.
OAKMONT CLUB PLAY
Oakmont Bocce Club play continues during winter hours, Monday through Saturday at 1 PM at the West Rec. Bocce courts. The schedule of events and tournaments for 2019 is posted at the courts and has been distributed to club members. The current Club roster will be distributed soon.
Membership forms are available at the bocce courts and in the Bocce Club file folder in the OVA office. Club dues remain at $15 per person per calendar year. Completed forms should be returned with check payable to “Oakmont Bocce Club” to the Bocce Club file folder in the OVA office. Club name badges can be ordered using the form available at both the bocce courts and in the Bocce Club file folder in the OVA office. Ordered badges will be available after the first week of each month in the name badge basket in the Club Shed.
VALENTINE’S DAY TOURNEY SATURDAY
2019 Tournament play begins this Saturday, February 16 with the Valentine’s Day Tournament at 1:00 p.m. Tournament play is limited to 24 participants. Be sure to get to the courts early, in time to reserve a place for the chip draw for teams and courts at 12:45. Winning teams will be pictured in the March 1 Oakmont News.
