The Oakmont Kiwanis Club invites you to join us and enjoy a good breakfast each Thursday, 8am followed by an hour meeting at 8:30. The first Thursday of each month we meet at the Gardens. All other Thursdays you will find us at the Berger Center. On October 1st we met at the home of Pat Veuve for new officer’s inauguration. Fran Lazzarini will be the president for the upcoming year. Other officers are Ann Isaacs, Secretary, Pat Veuve, treasurer, Jim Stewart, Past President. The Board of Directors are Tricia Shindledecker, Charlie Ensley,John Rector and Bev Singer. Fran Lazzarini joined the Oakmont Kiwanis Club in August of 2016. She especially loves the motto of Kiwanis:”Improving the World One Child at a Time.” Fran has been a member of two other service clubs, but proudly says Kiwanis is by far her favorite. Whether ringing the bell for the annual Salvation Army Christmas fund raiser, donating hours at the local food bank, serving food at past Kiwanis events, she is happy to serve. Fran loves being busy and working with her hands. She enjoys quilting, basket making and playing bridge. When not doing these activities, she is writing the minutes of her P.E.O., Kiwanis or church boards. Fran and her husband still go tent camping which she has loved since a child with her family.
Mark your calendars. The 17th annual Veteran’s Day observances will be held Thursday, November 11, noon in the Berger Center. It was started by the late Kiwanian, Mel Ruiz. His widow, Kathy Ruiz will speak of Mel’s involvement with Veteran’s Day observances. Following the program, lunch will be served by the Oakmont Gardens.
Oakmont is going to the Dogs on December 13th and again on December 18th.
