ERC & WRC pools will both be open at the normal times. The pool at the CAC will remain closed as the concrete replacement project for the Berger and CAC starts tomorrow.
THE WISDOM OF THE DAVIS-STIRLING ACT
What does good homeowner association (HOA) governance look like? How should board members (directors) perform their duties? What should their goals be? What input should members have? How does the ideal community operate?
In his latest president’s message, Steve answers these questions and more.
INPUT ON PROPOSED BYLAW CHANGES
The OVA Board of Directors is seeking member input on proposed bylaws changes and processes that result from the work of the Bylaws Committee. A town hall meeting was held last week, and the presentation slides and the meeting video are available to view at https://oakmontvillage.com/article/9-3-2020-town-hall-bylaw-revisions-video-and-meeting-materials/.
“We want to hear from you, especially regarding the Phase 1 process for amending our bylaws,” Vice President Kendrick said after the forum. “Please direct your comments and questions to Bylaws@oakmontvillage.com.”
AN EMERGENCY REQUIRING EVACUATION
How will I know if I need to evacuate?
To learn more about how the City of Santa Rosa will notify you in the event of an emergency evacuation, review the City’s Emergency Alerts and Warning Tools web page or watch the Emergency Alerts and Warnings informational video.
If the power is out when an emergency occurs and I need to evacuate, how will I be notified if emergency alert systems that rely on cell towers or electricity fail?
Depending on the emergency, the City’s ability to reach you via traditional alert and warning tools may be limited, especially if the power is out for an extended period of time. To help address this concern, as of October 1, 2019, Santa Rosa police cars and fire department vehicles are outfitted with Hi/Lo sirens. These European-style, two-tone sirens make a different sound than traditional sirens and will only be used in an emergency to alert residents within specific areas of the need to evacuate. If you hear the Hi/Lo, it’s time to go. Watch a video to hear the Hi/Lo siren sound at srcity.org/EvacutionAlertingTools.

Dr. John Freedman
Big History Part IV: The Future
If you attended Dr. Freedman’s previous lectures, you know he covers a breathtaking, fascinating and comprehensive review of life. In his final lecture, he will take us into the future to look at four possible new thresholds that could change everything: artificial intelligence, brain-machine neural interface, gene editing and extraterrestrial colonization. Hang on to your seats. This should be an exciting ride!
Speaker presentations are being pre-recorded and posted on the website http://oakmontsundaysymposium.org. After viewing, join in for a live Q&A at 11 a.m. on the date of the speaker’s talk. No password or specialized software is required to view.

There are articles available to read in advance.
