It has been a long and depressing rainy season. But the days are getting longer, the skies bluer, and the wildlife is getting restless as their hormones surge. We golfers are getting restless too, just waiting for the golf season to go into full swing. One sure sign that it is upon us is the Master’s tournament, which has just concluded as you read this. A second sign is the beginning of the Oakmont Seniors season which starts in less than three weeks at the Napa Country Club. This trip is one of the most anticipated events of the Seniors’ year and, if you aren’t a member of the Seniors yet, you just have a short time to join.
The Seniors travel to some of the best golf clubs in the area at truly bargain rates. They also host other clubs at Oakmont twice a year. The tournament competition is friendly and there is real camaraderie between participants. To qualify for membership you must have an OGC membership and a NCGA handicap. For details visit the West Proshop. The 2019 schedule is shown below, and as a member you will receive an email about two weeks in advance of an event informing you of the fees, usually about $50, which include breakfast, lunch, green fees, and a cart. We carpool to the away games leaving from the Quail Inn parking lot making travel arrangements a snap. The Seniors club is one of the most valuable perks of OGC membership, don’t miss out.
