The Oakmont Golf Club is in the midst of the off-season and the management team has taken action to insure that the operations are run efficiently and effectively. Some of these actions have generated confusion or worse, misinformation. As General Manager, I believe it is important to clarify both for the Oakmont Community.
Seasonal Operational Adjustments
During the off-season, daily golf operations for both golf courses are run from the West Golf Shop – a step that has been taken to better manage utility and personnel expenses.
As typical, a seasonal adjustment in course maintenance has reduced the staff to six members. It is far below what would be optimal but we do a good job of maintaining the courses.
Monday thru Thursday we offer a breakfast bar in the golf shop. Full breakfast service is available in the Quail Friday thru Sunday. These temporary changes are both cost effective and personnel efficient. We appreciate the community’s support and understanding during the winter months.
New in 2019
The club has had many great events throughout the year and we continue to create a full agenda of activities for 2019. Many of these events are open to the entire community. Our New Year’s Party was a wonderful way to start a year. January included a couple of great events, including an Indoor Putting Contest and the first of our monthly Bingo nights.
The menu in the Quail has changed to include daily specials showcasing some of Chef Lesley’s specialties. Our patrons should look forward to regular seasonal changes to include the best available products from local growers.
Under the watchful eye of our course superintendent, the courses will continue to be in great shape and very enjoyable to play.
Once again, we are recipients of the 2019 Wedding Wire Couples Choice Award acknowledging enthusiastic reviews and great service for weddings and banquet performances.
2018 was a challenging year and we are fully prepared for 2019. It’s important to remember that much of our management team has been with OGC less than a year. A great deal has been accomplished and we recognize there is much yet to do to assure service and performance that meets your expectations and our own standards. I am grateful for the team’s ability to work together as we develop the best product possible for our members, residents and guests.
We thank you for your patience and support. The Oakmont community is a very special place, and I look forward to doing my part in making the OGC a great place to play, dine and relish this spectacular setting in beautiful Sonoma County.
If you would like to discuss any issue with me, please call and we can set up an appointment to meet.
Thank you and Happy New Year!
