OGC Introduces the Valley Resident Program

In January, the Oakmont Golf Club will introduce a low cost membership plan aimed at Oakmont residents – those who don’t necessarily play golf!

The Valley Resident Program (VRP) is an outgrowth of discussions between the OVA and the OGC. While contentious for some Oakmonters, the OVA Board received input from many residents interested in helping to sustain the club and its green space while opening new social and recreational opportunities for themselves and visiting family and friends. “We are pleased the OGC has responded in a spirit of collaboration in developing ways to bring the club and larger community together” said OVA Director Tom Kendrick. “The VRP, at $20/month, affords access to events, programs and discounts normally available only to OGC’s dues paying members”.

Speaking on behalf of the OGC, Director Gary Smith notes “we are hopeful there is a meaningful segment of Oakmont that really wants to be supportive and get involved socially.” If you might be interested in taking up the game, there will be clinics and easy access to equipment and the range. Have visitors who would like to play — discounts apply. More interested in social events like the very popular wine dinners; barbeques; music and entertainment events – here’s the way in at lower cost. Charging privileges; banquet use; reduced or waived corkage; the OGC Wine Club and more are all parts of the program.

The VRP is limited in that memberships will be nonvoting, non proprietary and not assessable. Applicants will need their Oakmont Access Badge to join. Mr. Smith explains the plan is rolling out on a test basis initially. “We need a reasonable period in order to determine the level of interest and support for the program.” During this period, which may last as long as eighteen months, the plan will not be available to existing OGC members.

The VRP, with all the details, will be promoted through and by the Oakmont Golf Club. Watch for further information or contact Membership Director Michelle Sand for details – (707) 537-3671 msand@kempersports.com.
