The Monday Mens’ Niners section likes to vary the “games” played each week and on April 8th , fifteen players participated in a 3-Club Monte game, where players were allowed to take only 3 clubs plus their putter onto the course and play an individual low net game. Many players select their driver, a mid-iron, and a wedge to navigate the front nine holes of the East Course. Phil Sapp led all scorers with a net 30, followed by John Derby at 33.5. Third place was earned by Jack Robinson at 34.5 , followed by Ron Bickerts’ 35.5. Wayne Mickaelian finished in fifth at 36 and the final two to finish in the sweeps competition were Rodi Martinelli and Bob Wilkinson at 36.5. Dan Levin was Closest to Pin at 38’.
April 15 looked to be the first Monday morning of the year to show signs of a warming spring season. Sixteen players turned out for the Individual Low Net game with Bill Faherty and Charlie Perotti tying for first place each notching scores of 30. Second best score was earned by Joe Lash at 31.5, followed by Don Schulte’s 32.5. Neil Huber scored the fourth best score of 33, and a three-way tie of 34 for the fifth best between David Beach, Art Boot, and Tom Massip. John Munkascy was Closest to Pin at 20’ 8”.
