YMCA HEALTHY LIVING April 1, 2019 edition

April Fool’s Day is a historic nod at being the brunt of a joke. Though no specific date has been recorded, this day of delight may date back to Biblical times (book of Genesis,) and continues to have many different twists and turns. 

It is a day of jokes, hoaxes and pranks. It invites belly laughs. It brings all the benefits of merriment, including stress relief and reduction of strain on the heart. Just like exercise, which is no laughing matter. 
You are invited to get serious about stress relief and physical health. You are invited to come to your first try-out of Oakmont Health Initiative Free Fitness class. We work hard; we laugh even harder.

Equipment:  Non-skid yoga mats, knee pad, 3# hand weights, athletic shoes that are supportive but not too grippy. Water bottle – hydration revitalizes.

Word to the wise: For your safety, good balance and lateral movement are needed in these quick aerobic classes. A fall may cause serious injury. Please check with your doctor prior to beginning this or any exercise regimen. All Free Fitness Classes are too large to accommodate those who need special supervision. If you have shoulder, back, knee problems, anything that is painful, it is advisable to join a smaller, well-supervised class first, and consult a personal trainer or medical professional to learn modifications that are suitable to your condition. Participants need to use their judgment and body awareness… altering each exercise to prevent injury.  Be careful dear ones. Welcome!
