Members met on January 9th to visit and sew on their projects and again on January 23 for the business meeting.

At the business meeting there were announcements of the Cloverdale Citrus Fair to be held February 15-18 which includes quilts on display. The Sonoma Vintage House quilt show in Sonoma will be held March 19th and 20th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission is $5 and will benefit Vintage House Senior Center. This year’s show features the work of Kathy Martin, well known for her long arm quilting and quilt designing.

The Tri-Guild Luncheon held each year by Moonlight Quilters, Petaluma Quilt Guild or the Santa Rosa Quilt Guild will be held on Saturday, March 23 at the Scottish Rite building on Sonoma Highway at Acacia Lane. This year’s hosts are the members of the Santa Rosa Quilt Guild.

Charlotte Henley, a new member joined us, and we welcomed back Kar Hofmann to the Bee.

Several members have signed up to participate in the telephone quilt challenge again this year and assigned months for each person will be given out in February, along with a picture for the first person in the challenge

Carol Jarvis

Betsy Smith displayed two quilts: a small quilt with a Gandhi quote, which hung in her classroom and she recently refurbished. The larger quilt is a Girl Scout/Brownie quilt she made for her granddaughters. The backing is made with Scout “minkie” fabric. Joan Rumrill showed a quilt she made years ago and which she is also refurbishing.

Leigh Uselton is finishing a quilt she made for the “Page 38” Bee challenge which was a couple of years back. Kar Hofmann showed a wool appliqué project she started years ago and now hopes to finish. Carol Jarvis showed four 9” quilts which were printed fabrics of “quilty” older ladies. She cleverly embellished each of the quilts with lace, buttons, beads and felt, then quilted and bound them.

The Quilting Bee meets on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month in the Arts and Crafts room from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. For further information please call Elizabeth McDonnell at 538-2523.
