Report of the January 29 Oakmont Forum: Brainstorming Questions for Candidates’ Night

  • Bruce Bon

This Oakmont Forum invited all Oakmont residents to discuss and vote on questions that we would like to be asked on Candidates’ Night (Feb 19, 6 – 9 pm, Berger). The turnout was a good size for such a discussion, and included three current directors (Heidi Klyn, Al Medeiros and Marianne Neufeld), the first two of whom will be running to keep their seats on the Board. It was very useful to have the current directors’ contributions. We considered a total of 27 possible candidate questions in six categories: Facilities Expansion Policy, Fiscal Concerns and Dues, Membership Voting, Oakmont Golf Course, Legal and Insurance Issues and Safety. The meeting was very interactive, with attendees supplying the candidate questions and voting on which were most important in each category. A report was published in the Oakmont Observer ( and delivered to the OVA Nominating Committee, for their consideration in putting together the ten questions to be asked of each director candidate on Feb 19.

The February Oakmont Forum on Feb 9 was a candidate meet-and-greet event, held in West Rec. A short report on this event will be in the next edition of the Oakmont News.

The core purposes of the Oakmont Forum are to inform members on Oakmont issues, to involve members in OVA governance, and to empower them to participate in deciding the future of Oakmont. Please check for details. We are looking for people
