John Brodey, a reverse mortgage broker, will speak on how to get income from the equity in a home at the March 21 luncheon of Sons in Retirement #53 at Oakmont’s Berger Center.
Brodey, an Oakmont resident, has spent the last 13 years working exclusively with the Home Equity Conversion Mortgage program (reverse mortgages). Most people know very little about reverse mortgages, he said, and unfortunately a lot of what they know is inaccurate.
Brodey will address FHA changes and new strategies for managing the second largest asset people over 60 have at their disposal.
Among the new activities added by Branch #53 is a visit to the Joe Matos Cheese Factory in Santa Rosa, Saturday, March 23, leaving from Berger Center at 10 a.m. and returning at 1 p.m. The tour will include the opportunity to purchase cheese. Those interested should email email@example.com with their name and the number of people in their party.
Another event is SIR Day at the Races March 29 at Golden Gate Fields. The gates open at 11 a.m. The first race is at 12:45 p.m. and a prime rib buffet is served from noon to 3:30. The cost of $41 includes parking, admission and reserved seating, daily racing program, the buffet, tax and tip for the food servers. For more information call Sheri Espique at 510 559-7549 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Both activities are open to all Oakmont residents.
Sir Branch #53 is meeting on the third Thursday of each month in Oakmont’s Berger Center, 6633 Oakmont Drive. A social hour starts at 11 a.m. with luncheon at noon catered by A La Heart Catering. Any Oakmont man interested in attending this presentation and/or membership should contact Dave McCuan at 539-3028. Ladies are welcome at 1 p.m. to hear the speaker.
