Steve Spanier and Jon Kline cut the ribbon during a celebration marking the official reopening of shuffleboard at Oakmont. Kevin Hubred, OVA GM and Rick Aubert, OVA Maintenance also attended the April 11th event along with more than a dozen club members.

Players enjoyed refreshments between doubles games, and alternating partners sat on chairs around a table recently donated to the club by Joanne and Tom Knez. The OVA plans to refinish the furniture and add more tables and umbrellas for shade in the near future.

Shuffleboard at Oakmont started in 1966 with six concrete courts. After 40 years the original courts cracked and became unplayable. Two new all-weather Poly Courts placed over the original courts are now used for play.

Regular club play and instruction for new players takes place at 10:00 AM every Tuesday and Thursday. Shuffleboard cues and discs are stored in the Shuffleboard Locker at the back of the Berger Center and are available to all Oakmont residents and guests every day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
