Preparing for the Women's Singles Tournament
Preparing for the Women's Singles Tournament

By Mary Blake

As I write this, we don’t yet have the final result of the Women’s Singles. What I can tell you is that we had a great turn-out, with 12 women competing in the first round. The winners of that first round (in alpha order) were Ande, Bonnie, Denise, Jeana, Linda P, and Linda R (yes, she’s back in Oakmont). The second-round winners were Bonnie, Denise, and Jeana, with Jeana getting the bye.

With all the people interested in bowling, we’ve accelerated the training process. After the last Demo Day, we had 27 people interested in lawn bowling! By the time you read this, we should have at least 13 new bowlers.
If you’re a new bowler, WELCOME.
If you’ve been bowling for a while, be kind to our new bowlers. We hit them with A LOT of information over a short period of time. With practice, they’ll get all the details down but for now, we all need to keep in mind what it’s like to take on a new activity.
And let Tony know if you’d like to help with training.

Jeana has shirts and hats for sale. Shirts are men’s and women’s, white with club logo, for $23. Sizes range from SM to XXL. Hats are unisex, white with club logo, for $15. Information is in the bowls room. Contact Jim K or Jeana to order or if you have questions.

9/11 Memories and Exercise

Today we remember the day that shocked and shook the world with a painful look back. This is also a time to look ahead at how to mitigate lingering negative responses. Living in constant concern, anxiety and fear robs the good from each day. Deep breathing and reading comics may be ways to cope. Talking to a positive person might be another. And still a third: exercise.
