SIR#53: The Life of Charles Schultz

Benjamin L. Clark, curator of the Charles M. Schultz Museum in Santa Rosa, will speak on the life of cartoonist Charles Schultz, the impact of his world-famous comic strip and a description of the museum and some of its programs at the May 16 luncheon of Sons in Retirement #53 at Oakmont’s Berger Center.

A day tour is set for June 29 at 180 Studios in Santa Rosa, a 15,000-square-foot space with labs for electronics and robotics, a machine shop, fiber arts, woodworking and welding. There’s no charge. Car pools will leave Berger at 10 a.m. Contact Ed Kelleher at edwardkelleher1@gmail.com.

A group will visit Open Cockpit Day for Vietnam War Aircraft Aug. 17 at the Pacific Air Museum in Santa Rosa. Aircraft on display include helicopters and fighter jets with speeds of more than 1,000mph. Admission is $7. Contact Kelleher. In addition Kelleher is attempting to revive the book group, which needs a fourth member to continue.

SIR Branch #53 is meeting on the third Thursday of each month in Oakmont’s Berger Center, 6633 Oakmont Drive. A social hour starts at 11 a.m. with luncheon at noon catered by A La Heart Catering.
