Pencil in the Spring Meeting
Save space in your schedule and your stomach for a light snack at the OTC membership meeting. Tennis Club members only will gather on March 16 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the Berger Center. The board will distribute rosters, provide a light snack, and conduct regular business. Then stay around for a featured speaker immediately following the meeting. You won’t want to miss this!
Tennis Club and Pickleball Join Forces to Bring Helle Sparre, Tennis and Pickleball Pro, to Oakmont
Tennis and pickleball players alike will want to take advantage of an awesome opportunity to get advice from a nationally recognized expert. All Oakmont residents are invited to hear former professional tennis player and current professional pickleball player, Helle Sparre, discuss strategies to immediately improve doubles play.
Ms. Sparre will share her extensive knowledge and experience teaching doubles tennis at 3:00, March 16, directly following the OTC meeting in the Berger Center. OTC and OPB are graciously providing a wine and cheese reception at the conclusion of this segment of the presentation. At 4:30 Ms. Sparre will continue the discussion for pickleball players, with suggestions for tactics to improve their games. Oakmonters who play both sports, and there are many of you, will want to be present for both talks!
The tennis and pickleball clubs have collaborated to sponsor this learning opportunity with funds from an Oakmont Community Foundation grant secured by Terri Somers. Helle Sparre played professional doubles tennis, authored the book, Dynamite Doubles, and developed the Dynamite Doubles System for
improving the game of tennis players of all levels. Like many former tennis pros, Helle (Hell-uh) transitioned from tennis to pickleball and adapted these strategies to the pickleball game. She not only plays professional pickleball, but also is said to be one of the best pickleball instructors in the country. You won’t want to miss this opportunity.
