On Saturday, April 20, nearly 140 children had loads of fun on a beautiful, sunny (yet windy!) day in Oakmont. Accompanied by their grandparents, the children “hunted” for eggs in the grass areas outside the Berger, jumped in the Bounce House Wizard Castle, selected their own Beanie Babies, had their faces painted, received cute balloon animals made especially for them, and chose goodies from the prize tables.

We were serenaded by the melodic and talented Mellotones (Mary Ellen Brown, Bob Chapman, and John Derby) and Eva Torsti (Mary Ellen’s granddaughter), who did the vocals to their many popular and nostalgic songs.

The Oakmont Grandparents’ Club is very grateful to the following organizations and retailers for their financial donations that helped make this event happen:
Oakmont Community Foundation, Valley of the Moon Rotary,
Oakmont Kiwanis, Subway on Calistoga Road, Trader Joe’s.

A shout-out to members of the Oakmont maintenance team: Maggie, Gil, and Diego, for doing all the complicated set-up; to the many members of the Grandparents’ Club who volunteered their time and energy; to Kathy Sowers and Julie Kiil for taking photos; and to the very cute and wonderful children who brought smiles to everyone’s faces.

Grandparents’ Club next event is our Summer Week, July 21-26 – reserve those dates now for a fun week with your grandchildren. More info to follow soon.
