Trione-Annadel State Park will be doing vegetation pile burning Thursday Dec. 9 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
These burns are part of the prescribed fire program for vegetation management, fuel load reduction, wildlife habitat improvement, and other ecological benefits. This treatment is aimed at reducing roadside fuel loads and enhancing biodiversity as part of the park’s road and trail management program, according to Cyndy Shafer, Natural Resource Program Manager. A few trails near the burn area, including portions of the Two Quarry Fire Road and Marsh Trail, may be temporarily closed during the burns. People traveling near the pile burn areas may see smoke, but smoke from prescribed burns is significantly less than that produced during wildfires.
