Good News for the Veterans of Oakmont. After being shut out of our meetings because of the Pandemic we are ready to start meeting. We veterans of this organization established by Colonel David Vog’I, USAF (Deceased), are looking forward to what David envisioned for us. David passed on December 11, 2019. He bravely fought T-Cell Lymphoma for 5 years before succumbing to the cancer most likely from Agent Orange in Vietnam. David flew the F4C fighter jet out of Korat AB Thailand and volunteered the dangerous job of Forward Air Controller. In Just 11 months of combat,
he flew over 125 missions and 496 combat hours. His aircraft was shot multiple times but he never lost an airplane. David established us in the summer of 2019. The purpose is to have a monthly Beer Call and periodically a speaker from the VA and other agencies on benefits and entitlements to keep us up to date.
We were meeting at the The Oak Restaurant the last Friday of the month from 4:30 to 6:30 PM. Fridays are very busy we found out and we now have made arrangements with the new management to meet the last Thursday of each month at The Oak in the room behind the bar from 4:00 to 5:30 PM. However we will kick off our first meeting on the fourth Thursday of July 22nd. We invite all veterans and wives and Widows of veterans to attend. David wanted also for veterans and wives from any nation to be a part of our association.
Looking forward to meeting and greeting you all,
John Adams, USAF (Retired)
Chairman, Oakmont Veterans Association
