The Oakmont Lawn Bowling Club is always excited to have new bowlers. Bowling is 6 days a week (Monday through Saturday), starting at 12:30, through April 30th. Lessons are free. Membership is $20 per year. Club bowls (they’re called “bowls”, not “balls”) are available for practice. You must be an OVA member to participate.

As of February 11th, the club has 65 dues paying members. 2 associate members and 4 lifetime members. That’s down only a little from our pre-COVID membership! Thanks to all of you who renewed your membership. And, of course, even if you missed the February 1st deadline, we’d be happy to see you again.

The Green Book is almost complete. We’re re-checking dates. Once it’s as close to perfect as we can get it (we’re human – there WILL be at least one mistake in it) we’ll print it and have copies available in the Bowls Room.
The Green Book includes our members and their contact information, committee and board members, as well as all of the dates for our club activities.

We have one event scheduled for March. That’s the St Patrick’s Day Fun Game on Thursday, March 17 at 12:30. If you’d like to play, sign up on the sign-up sheet on the shed (we’ll send an e-blast when the sheet goes up), bring $3, wear whites (or greens!) and show up at 12:15 to bowl at 12:30.

If you can’t bowl, come by anyway and cheer on your favorite bowlers.

Here’s a sneak peek at the 2022 calendar. It’s subject to change, so check the calendar on our website. We’ll also send out e-blast reminders, of course.

Demo Days will be from 10 to noon on Monday, May 24, Monday, July 18, and Monday September 19.

The Sonoma Wine Country Games (last seen in 2019) will be Friday, June 10, and Saturday, June 11. These are usually multiple games through the day with competitors showing up from all over the area. Income from the games benefits the Council on Aging.

Our After 5 Socials are scheduled for the first Tuesdays in May, June, July, August and September. The Halloween Pizza Bowl and Dinner will be October 28 and the Awards Gala will be December 2.

We’re in the process of setting a date for Grandparents’ Day (when we open bowling up to the grandchildren of Oakmont residents). It’ll be in July.

Check your green book or the website for more detailed information.

Rules have relaxed but the primary rule remains to be safe and to keep those around you as safe as possible.
