• We’re hanging in There!
Along with all of you we are waiting for things to get back to normal. Our “Doodle Day” scheduled for Saturday 1/22 was cancelled as well as the Yappy Hour Walks in January. Due to the Sonoma County Health Officer recommendations and erring on the side of caution, we cancelled all Canine club events through 2/11. Even though our events are outdoors, we still do not want to create group gatherings that might not be safe. The website is and will be kept up to date with future changes, but Oakmont News articles are submitted several weeks in advance of publication and sometimes things change by the time you read it here. So….. As of the date this article is being written, all February Canine club activities are on hold. We will re-evaluate future dates and let you know.

• Other Future Dates to Note:
The 23rd Annual Paws for Love Gala has been postponed until Saturday, May 21st. More details will be provided at a later date.

Saturday, June 11th – Small Dog Play Date at Happy Tails Dog Park has been re-scheduled to Saturday, June 18th. This is due to a Dogwood Animal Rescue Project Adoption Event being held on the Berger Lawn that day the 11th.

All of the above-mentioned cancellations and re-scheduling have been noted on the Canine Club website which can be accessed at: http://www.oakmontcanineclub.org.

• One More Date For Your Calendar: The Dog Show Is Back This Summer!
The club is currently seeking Volunteers to form the 2022 Dog Show Committee. The Oakmutt “Just for Fun” Dog Show will be held on the Berger Lawn, Saturday, June 4th. Please contact Randi Hulce, randihulce@comcst.net, if you would like to be on this fun committee. Your willingness to help is greatly appreciated.

You may return your payment to (a) the Canine Club folder in the OVA Office, or (b) mail it to the Club Treasurer’s home, or (c) drop it into his secure home mail box:

Canine Club dues remain $12 for a single membership and $20 for a household.

• What’s happening at the Dog Park?
Yeah! No More Mud! Improvements to provide a safe, all-weather pathway through the Happy Tails Dog Park were authorized Jan. 18 by the OVA Board of Directors. The new, permanent pathway will run down the center of the park. The project won unanimous approval after directors heard reports that the current path, built on leveled soil, is hard to maintain, subject to erosion and unsafe. The proposal calls for a permanent 5-foot-wide pathway running 488 feet from the landing off the dog park deck to the rear of the park.

Woof!
