DAILY DRAW MOVES TO AFTERNOONS
By Mary Blake

INTERESTED IN LEARNING TO BOWL?
We’re always excited to have new bowlers. We bowl 6 days a week (Monday through Saturday), afternoons starting October 1st. If you’re curious, drop by and ask about the game. Lessons are free for all Oakmont residents.

DAILY DRAW MOVES TO AFTERNOONS
Fall is here, the days are getting shorter and cooling off, and the Daily Draw moves to afternoons.
Until April 30th, the daily draw is at 12:30 (be there at 12:15).

OPEN SINGLES TOURNAMENT
As I write this, we’re waiting for the final round to be played. In the first round, winners were Jim K, Steve, Cynthia, Jeana, Denise, Topher, Tom, and Jeannette. In the second round, winners were Steve (vs. Jim K), Denise (vs. Topher), and Tom (vs. Jeannette), with Cynthia and Jeana’s match scheduled for Tuesday, 9/28. In the third round, Tom defeated Denise in a close and well-played match.

OPEN NOVICE TOURNAMENT
We had 10 novices show up for the Open Novice Tournament.
The five novice winners of the first round were John, Jimmy, Topher, Richard, and Paul. Paul won the bye. The others play their second round matches on Tuesday, September 28.

MEN’S PAIRS TOURNAMENT
Jim K and Paul won first place and the bye.
Jerry and Rob won second place.
Phil and Mark won third place.
Because of injuries, Jerry and Mark were not able to play in the second round, so the teams were shuffled, and Jim K and Paul faced and defeated Phil and Rob.

RESULTS OF MEN’S TRIPLES
This year, 12 men formed 4 teams to play in the Men’s Triples. In the first round, Tom’s team (Tom, Kevin and Ted) defeated Jim K’s team (Jim, Steve and Bob H) and Francis’ team (Francis, Phil and Paul) bested Topher’s (Topher, Richard and Jim B). With only four teams, this tournament was short and sweet. In the final round, Tom’s team emerged triumphant.
