OVA will host a Town Hall on Tuesday, August 4, at 1:00 p.m. at the Berger Center titled “Preparing Oakmont Village for the Next Wildfire.” The Town Hall will feature a presentation by the Firewise Resource Task Force and will also be available via Zoom.
This informational Town Hall will provide an overview of wildfire preparedness and highlight resources, policies, and publicly available information from the Oakmont Village Association, the City of Santa Rosa, CAL FIRE, and the insurance industry. The goal is to help residents better understand the various wildfire mitigation efforts and resources available to them.
The presentation will include an overview of Oakmont’s Firewise Landscape Policy, identify where the City of Santa Rosa’s Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) Fire Area requirements and the State’s Fire Hazard Severity Zones (FHSZs) apply within Oakmont, and summarize publicly available information regarding CAL FIRE’s proposed Zone Zero recommendations.
