The most recent of these related efforts started in 2017. The BAC studied the existing floor plan of the Berger and explored three options for a future Berger Center. Focused on the fourth and fifth options outlined by the BIC:

  1. Renovating the existing structure;
  1. Removing the existing structure and replacing it with a new center of the same or larger size at the same or a new location;
  1. Repurposing the existing structure and building a new center of the same or larger size at another location.

Their interim report from Summer 2017 summarized their progress: BAC July 5 2017

Their final report was presented to the Board in February of 2018 and included a summary of rough costs, including estimated (prior to the 2017 fires) construction budgets and information on various loan options to finance the work. Here is the BAC Final Report and Financial Analysis: Final Report

Subsequent to this, in April 2018 the BAC presented details to OVA Board for beginning the long overdue East Recreation Center renovation and recommended that most efforts in the Central area be deferred to some future time (the exception was work on the Berger Center seismic assessment and remediation—which was completed in 2019).
