Fire Safety: Be Prepared!

Dear Oakmont Resident,

With the recent earthquakes in Southern California and the fires of the last few years much closer to home, safety is top of mind for many of us. These days, whenever it gets very windy, I look with concern for signs of smoke in the beautiful hills bordering the Valley of the Moon. Perhaps you do too.

Many of us are underprepared for natural disasters. To help you better prepare, we’ve produced the durable tri-fold found here. We hope you’ll keep it handy and find it helpful.

The information included in this tri-fold comes from emergency response organizations and we believe it is accurate and valid. However, sometimes recommendations change, so you should be sure to keep up with the latest by checking the websites of such organizations as FEMA, the U.S. Department of Energy and Sonoma County Emergency Preparedness.

OVA is indebted to Brenda Steele and Kay Oppenheimer, who did the lion’s share of the work on this project. As usual here in Oakmont, volunteers with a passion for a cause have worked hard for the benefit of us all.

Be safe,
Steve
