My wife Debra and I have owned our Oakmont home for 39 years, and have lived in Oakmont full time for 10 years. Prior to moving to Oakmont, we lived in San Mateo County, and I was a venture capitalist in Silicon Valley for 22 years. I graduated from Occidental College, and earned an MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. During my tenure in the venture capital industry, I sat on the boards of directors of over 30 companies.
I have served as a director of the OVA from 2019 to 2023, and was President of the OVA in 2022. I was appointed to the board again in 2024. While on the board, I was directly involved in buying the golf courses and hiring Christel Antone.
Debra and I have watched the evolution of the Oakmont community thru the purchase of the golf course by club members in 1989, the building of the CAC in 2008, and the purchase of the golf course again by the OVA in 2019. All of these major projects caused Oakmont residents to step back and evaluate what was best for the community.
I am running for the OVA board because I want all residents to have the opportunity to consider a major renovation for Oakmont, commonly referred to as the 2030 Project. Over 750 residents (16% of the community) have participated in the 2030 Project. I believe that the OVA board should recommend a master plan to the community, and the community should vote on that proposal. No action should be taken by the OVA board without a community vote. If the community votes not to approve the board recommendation, so be it. However, we all deserve the opportunity to make our voices heard.
